The product, in perspective.
This modified-alkyd primer prepares masonry and gypsum for an appropriate paint system. Confirm that the substrate is dry and describe the proposed finish when asking KariVex to source it.
An alkali-resisting primer for the masonry surfaces covered by its sheet. An alkali-resisting primer does not remove the need to check moisture or cure of a new wall. The substrate needs to be ready for its coating system.
Where it works.
The documented surface or use for Crown Universal Alkali – Resisting Primer is masonry and gypsum. Identify the actual material and its condition before selecting the preparation and finishing system. An existing coating, a newly prepared base and a repaired area can need different treatment.
- An alkali-resisting primer for the masonry surfaces covered by its sheet.
- Available quotation packs and component requirements are checked for your selected product, rather than inferred from another grade.
Before you start.
Make the wall clean, dry and firm, fill defects and sand repairs. Remove flaking or chalking material before selecting the primer route for a previously painted surface.
For a useful specification check, share whether the surface is bare or previously treated, the name of the existing coating if known, and any visible damage or moisture exposure. Preparation products should be selected for that condition before the finishing material is applied.
Companion products to specify
The technical sheet references these materials for its preparation, thinning or coating scenarios. Confirm the scenario for your substrate.
Application and project planning.
Apply the primer and the compatible finishing coat sequence documented for the substrate.
An alkali-resisting primer does not remove the need to check moisture or cure of a new wall. The substrate needs to be ready for its coating system.
Measure the area to be treated and allow for the number of coats required by the coating system. Surface texture, absorption, application method and material losses can change the amount needed. Tell us the area and proposed system when requesting packs; the published coverage is a planning reference, not a guarantee of your project’s consumption.

Good questions, useful answers.
What information helps with a new wall?
Tell us the wall material, whether it is new plaster or an existing coating, and its current moisture or surface condition where known.
What should I include in my quotation?
Give the exact product name, requested pack size, quantity and relevant colour reference. Add the surface, application and destination so the product and delivery requirements can be checked together.
How do I choose the right pack and quantity?
Use the available pack choices and the quantity required by your coating or installation plan. Tell us the area, number of coats or relevant joint dimensions if you need help assembling a material list.
Can I confirm a colour from the product picture?
The image represents product packaging, not an exact shade match. Use a manufacturer colour reference for a coloured product, or specify that colour is not applicable for the material you need.
Keep the specification close.
Use the full manufacturer technical information when planning preparation and application. Include the exact product and system details when contacting KariVex about a quotation.
