The product, in perspective.

WB Fire Shield is Crown's one-component water-based intumescent coating. It is used within specified building-protection systems; fire performance depends on the substrate and approved system design, not the product name alone.

A water-based intumescent coating for a specified fire-protection system. The product name alone does not establish a fire-resistance rating. The substrate, system design and coating thickness are material parts of the specification.

Where it works.

The documented surface or use for Crown WB Fire Shield is specified concrete, structural steel, timber and gypsum systems. Identify the actual material and its condition before selecting the preparation and finishing system. An existing coating, a newly prepared base and a repaired area can need different treatment.

  • A water-based intumescent coating for a specified fire-protection system.
  • Available quotation packs and component requirements are checked for your selected product, rather than inferred from another grade.

Before you start.

Use the preparation standard, primer and substrate arrangement required by the project’s fire-protection design. Steel, masonry, timber and gypsum systems are not interchangeable.

For a useful specification check, share whether the surface is bare or previously treated, the name of the existing coating if known, and any visible damage or moisture exposure. Preparation products should be selected for that condition before the finishing material is applied.

Companion products to specify

The technical sheet references these materials for its preparation, thinning or coating scenarios. Confirm the scenario for your substrate.

Application and project planning.

The required coating build and recoating intervals must follow the approved system and the manufacturer’s technical documentation.

The product name alone does not establish a fire-resistance rating. The substrate, system design and coating thickness are material parts of the specification.

Quantity planning starts with the installation: surface area or joint dimensions, the specified system build, and the number of application stages. Include corners, junctions, penetrations or other details relevant to the job. The sales team can check the material list against the project requirements; application must follow the manufacturer’s current instructions.

Good questions, useful answers.

How much coating will the project need?

Use the required system thickness and the manufacturer’s consumption guidance. A generic wall-paint coverage estimate is not appropriate for intumescent protection.

What should I include in my quotation?

Give the exact product name, requested pack size, quantity and relevant colour reference. Add the surface, application and destination so the product and delivery requirements can be checked together.

How do I choose the right pack and quantity?

Use the available pack choices and the quantity required by your coating or installation plan. Tell us the area, number of coats or relevant joint dimensions if you need help assembling a material list.

Can I confirm a colour from the product picture?

The image represents product packaging, not an exact shade match. Use a manufacturer colour reference for a coloured product, or specify that colour is not applicable for the material you need.

Keep the specification close.

Use the full manufacturer technical information when planning preparation and application. Include the exact product and system details when contacting KariVex about a quotation.
