The product, in perspective.
Crown Black Bituminous Paint is a protective coating for suitable structural surfaces. State the substrate and exposure conditions so the specific bituminous coating can be confirmed; a general-purpose listing does not establish suitability for potable-water service.
A black bituminous coating for the surfaces listed in its technical sheet. General Black Bituminous Paint and the separate drinking-water-tank composition are distinct products. Do not select one solely because the colour is black.
Where it works.
The documented surface or use for Black Bituminous Paint is steel, concrete, wood and masonry. Identify the actual material and its condition before selecting the preparation and finishing system. An existing coating, a newly prepared base and a repaired area can need different treatment.
- A black bituminous coating for the surfaces listed in its technical sheet.
- Available quotation packs and component requirements are checked for your selected product, rather than inferred from another grade.
Before you start.
Degrease metal and remove rust or loose material using the sheet’s preparation route. Galvanised and aluminium surfaces require their specified pretreatment; masonry needs to be adequately dry.
For a useful specification check, share whether the surface is bare or previously treated, the name of the existing coating if known, and any visible damage or moisture exposure. Preparation products should be selected for that condition before the finishing material is applied.
Companion products to specify
The technical sheet references these materials for its preparation, thinning or coating scenarios. Confirm the scenario for your substrate.
Application and project planning.
The primer or self-priming arrangement depends on the substrate. Apply the coating sequence and thinning method documented for that surface.
General Black Bituminous Paint and the separate drinking-water-tank composition are distinct products. Do not select one solely because the colour is black.
Measure the area to be treated and allow for the number of coats required by the coating system. Surface texture, absorption, application method and material losses can change the amount needed. Tell us the area and proposed system when requesting packs; the published coverage is a planning reference, not a guarantee of your project’s consumption.

Good questions, useful answers.
Is this the drinking-water-tank product?
That is a separate catalogue entry with its own technical specification. Tell us the exposure and use so the exact product can be checked.
What should I include in my quotation?
Give the exact product name, requested pack size, quantity and relevant colour reference. Add the surface, application and destination so the product and delivery requirements can be checked together.
How do I choose the right pack and quantity?
Use the available pack choices and the quantity required by your coating or installation plan. Tell us the area, number of coats or relevant joint dimensions if you need help assembling a material list.
Can I confirm a colour from the product picture?
The image represents product packaging, not an exact shade match. Use a manufacturer colour reference for a coloured product, or specify that colour is not applicable for the material you need.
Keep the specification close.
Use the full manufacturer technical information when planning preparation and application. Include the exact product and system details when contacting KariVex about a quotation.
